Management of the Weekly Newspaper
Attendees will develop greater strategic vision for their organizations: the knowledge,
ability and willingness to pursue innovative revenue opportunities both in print
and via other avenues. and to manage their operations in a more disciplined manner
while fostering an expanded journalistic dialogue in their communities. Particular
attention will be given to revenue and content innovations that new technology is
enabling.
The seminar focuses on all aspects of leading a non-daily operation. Whether the
paper is a rural weekly, one of a network of suburban newspapers or an urban lifestyle
and entertainment publication, attendees will gain critical knowledge in the following
areas:
- Innovative content that can foster community dialog while preserving high journalistic
standards.
- Using measurement to guide decision-making, in conjunction with the Inland Press
Association Survey of Weekly Newspaper Operations.
- Maximizing revenue in both traditional and non-traditional channels.
- Leadership skills that attract and retain top performers.
